Near Quotations
Innocence does not find near so much protection as guilt. Francois de La Rochefoucauld The little may contrast with the great, in painting, but cannot be said to be contrary to it. Voltaire The typewriting machine, when played with expression, is no more annoying than the piano when played by a sister or near relation. Oscar Wilde There is a sacred horror about everything grand. It is easy to admire mediocrity and hills; but whatever is too lofty, a genius as well as a mountain, an assembly as well as a masterpiece, seen too near, is appalling. Victor Hugo We are near awakening when we dream that we dream. Novalis |
