Definition of Cosmos

Cosmos

  1. The universe or universality of created things; -- so called from the order and harmony displayed in it.
  2. The theory or description of the universe, as a system displaying order and harmony.
  3. A genus of composite plants closely related to Bidens, usually with very showy flowers, some with yellow, others with red, scarlet, purple, white, or lilac rays. They are natives of the warmer parts of America, and many species are cultivated. Cosmos bipinnatus and C. diversifolius are among the best-known species; C. caudatus, of the West Indies, is widely naturalized.

Cosmos Quotations

Alfred Adler

You cannot look up at the night sky on the Planet Earth and not wonder what it's like to be up there amongst the stars. And I always look up at the moon and see it as the single most romantic place within the cosmos.
Tom Hanks

What does the artist do? He draws connections. He ties the invisible threads between things. He dives into history, be it the history of mankind, the geological history of the Earth or the beginning and end of the manifest cosmos.
Anselm Kiefer

One may understand the cosmos, but never the ego; the self is more distant than any star.
Gilbert K. Chesterton
