In the sense that you're not at the centre of power, like a president or prime minister of a major power, everyone is marginalised; my position doesn't isn't unique in that respect. I think there are different sorts of relevance in different contexts.

Peter Singer An organization which claims to be working for the needs of a community - as SNCC does - must work to provide that community with a position of strength from which to make its voice heard. This is the significance of black power beyond the slogan. Stokely Carmichael I also believe that government has no business telling us how we should live our lives. I think our lifestyle choices should be left up to us. What we do in our private lives is none of the government's business. That position rules out the Republican Party for me. Jesse Ventura In a war, you must hate somebody or love somebody; you must have a position or you cannot stand what goes on. Robert Capa Nevertheless, China was unfortunately unable to understand Japan's real position, and it is greatly to be regretted that the Sino-Japanese War became one of long duration. Hideki Tojo I'm always watching people over a short time frame, putting them in an extreme position. Sometimes you don't see the humanity in a person because the time frame is so short and the circumstance so extreme. Irvine Welsh I kinda see my current position like this: Here's your five minutes in the toy store, so you gotta do all the good movies you can before 'Chuck Woolery' rings the bell. Ben Affleck No matter what his position or experience in life, there is in everyone more latent than developed ability; far more unused than used power. James Cash Penney I look back on it, yeah, I'm in a much worse financial position than I was eight years ago. I'm going to have to go out at age 62 and kind of readdress some of that. Bruce Babbitt I am still a victim of chess. It has all the beauty of art - and much more. It cannot be commercialized. Chess is much purer than art in its social position. Marcel Duchamp This party will not take its position based on public opinion polls. We will not take a stand based on focus groups. We will not take a stand based on phone-in shows or householder surveys or any other vagaries of pubic opinion. Stephen Harper But I've been very clear in this campaign - I don't believe the party should have a position on abortion. Stephen Harper Canada remains alienated from its allies, shut out of the reconstruction process to some degree, unable to influence events. There is no upside to the position Canada took. Stephen Harper Beauty ought to look a little surprised: it is the emotion that best suits her face. The beauty who does not look surprised, who accepts her position as her due - she reminds us too much of a prima donna. E. M. Forster I believe that no man who holds a leader's position should ever accept favors from either side. He is then committed to show favors. A leader must stand alone. Mother Jones There is certain relief in change, even though it be from bad to worse! As I have often found in traveling in a stagecoach, that it is often a comfort to shift one's position, and be bruised in a new place. Washington Irving Men have an extraordinarily erroneous opinion of their position in nature; and the error is ineradicable. W. Somerset Maugham Sex: the pleasure is momentary, the position ridiculous, and the expense damnable. Lord Chesterfield Just after writing those we were called up to defend a new position on the left, where the terrible storming of the bridge over the Antietam took place. Joshua Chamberlain Let your family, staff, and friends know that you're still the same person, despite all the publicity and notoriety that accompanies your position. Donald Rumsfeld |
