Personally, I think young musicians need to learn to play more than one style. Jazz can only enhance the classical side, and classical can only enhance the jazz. I started out playing classical, because you have to have that as a foundation.

Doc Severinsen Personally, I was never the cool kid. I was always sort of a bookworm. I would just like to be more like Troy, because he's so cool. Zac Efron Personally, I would be delighted if there were a life after death, especially if it permitted me to continue to learn about this world and others, if it gave me a chance to discover how history turns out. Carl Sagan Personally, I would say the 'master' of this whole thing is fate... Whoever is on the playing field is fair game, and it's up to them to avoid being used. Cliff Burton Personally, I would sooner have written Alice in Wonderland than the whole Encyclopedia Britannica. Stephen Leacock Personally, I'd never seen a graphic novel. I knew they existed because friends of mine like Jonathan Ross collect them and some very literate and intelligent people really rate the graphic novel as a form. Stephen Fry Personally, I've found one of the more stimulating ways of playing in recent times has been to kind of move outside the free improvised area and work with people who are probably improvisers but they have a particular way of working. Derek Bailey Personally, I've found that the kind of thing that I like is going into somebody else's area and not playing their music but doing whatever I do in their area. Derek Bailey Personally, in my home, the district in central New York, the Air National Guard base, not 5 years ago, the commandant came through and said, This is one of the sorriest looking bases I have ever seen. Jim Walsh Personally, it was hard to see Emmitt in red. Jerry Jones Personally, one of the down sides of founding a company is that there is always too much work to do, and sadly I find I don't have much time to code any more. Eric Allman Personally, people know themselves very poorly. Ernst Mach Proverbs are always platitudes until you have personally experienced the truth of them. Aldous Huxley Public emergencies may require the hand of severity to fall heavily on those who are not personally guilty, but compassion prompts, and ever urges to milder methods. Mercy Otis Warren Right and wrong becomes more difficult for each of us as we grow older, because the older we get the more we know personally about our own human frailties. Blanche Lincoln Robert Johnson? No, I didn't know him, personally. Muddy Waters Saddam's fate should be in the hands of his country men. They were the major victims of his brutal reign and should decide his life, death, or permanent imprisonment. Personally, I would lock him away forever. Ronnie James Dio Selling is our No. 1 job. Never get away from selling a lot of merchandise personally. The more you sell the more you learn. James Cash Penney Shaving my head was a millennium ritual, to not let it pass as just another New Year's Eve. A lot has happened to me in the last couple of years, personally and spiritually. I wanted to mark it for myself. Joan Jett Sylvia Plath was just a month and a half older than I, and when she committed suicide I was only 30 - and very shocked and sorry. I never knew her personally. Anne Stevenson |
