It just seems to be a human trait to want to protect the speech of people with whom we agree. For the First Amendment, that is not good enough. So it is really important that we protect First Amendment rights of people no matter what side of the line they are on.

Floyd Abrams I don't think politicians should be allowed into power who are not familiar with their bodies, because that's where our bottom line is. And I know that they would make totally different decisions if they felt responsible simply for their own bodies. Twyla Tharp The work of an advertising agency is warmly and immediately human. It deals with human needs, wants, dreams and hopes. Its 'product' cannot be turned out on an assembly line. Leo Burnett I have always believed helping your fellow man is profitable in every sense, personally and bottom line. Mario Puzo You can dominate a game if you dominate on the line... We're just going to have to go out there and work hard and blow people off the ball, and let our runners do what they do best. Miles Davis The one thing you don't want is that stale sound when you've done a line so much you can't find a fresh approach to it. Drop it. Sammy Davis, Jr. The ones who were negotiating are now on the front line of this intifada, because they found that the negotiations didn't give them the minimum of their rights. Hassan Nasrallah I'm the end of the line; absurd and appalling as it may seem, serious New York theater has died in my lifetime. Arthur Miller But there's a thin line between songwriting and arranging. Warren Zevon I want to work for a long, long time and keep growing in my work, and if I am very lucky and very blessed, maybe somewhere along the line there will be one movie in there that becomes a classic. Salma Hayek Some men have a silly theory about beautiful women - that somewhere along the line they'll turn into a monster. That movie gave them a chance to watch it happen. Salma Hayek So, I think it has to do with the product and what you take to the public. If they like it, they're going to come see you, and if they don't, and if you're kind of getting out of the trendy line of things, then they won't come see you. Reba McEntire The other inmates stand in a long straight line, flanked by guards, and I am dragged past them. I do not respect them, because they will not run - will not try to escape. Jack Henry Abbott Grunts on the line, where the enemy wants them dead, still goof off - even knowing that by letting their guard down they might die. David Hackworth My father's people... are from Fairfax in northern Virginia, just across the Mason-Dixon line. So it was an honour to play Lee, he was a great general. Robert Duvall You get below the Mason-Dixon line and you have some of the best music, culture, the two races, the literature, and it's so rich. Robert Duvall Through loyalty to the past, our mind refuses to realize that tomorrow's joy is possible only if today's makes way for it; that each wave owes the beauty of its line only to the withdrawal of the preceding one. Andre Gide The real literary editors have mostly been fired. Those that remain are all "bottom line" editors; everything depends on the money. Lawrence Ferlinghetti There's a line in the picture where he snarls, 'Nobody tells me what to do.' That's exactly how I've felt all my life. Marlon Brando I should be proud to have my memory graced, but only if the monument be placed... here, where I endured three hundred hours in line before the implacable iron bars. Anna Akhmatova |
