Toni Collette I think the future stopped looking American when you think back to Blade Runner and Neuromancer, when it started to look more Japanese. Iain Banks I wanted Kimi to be a Japanese record with a Japanese title. I wanted it to be for them. They appreciate things on a different level, and take their art very seriously - that's special if you're an artist. Matthew Sweet I was to Japanese visitors to Washington what the Mona Lisa is to Americans visiting Paris. John C. Danforth I went to the Tokyo Film Festival in Japan because I love Japanese cinema. Leslie Caron I wish that they had the freedoms like the Japanese and the Koreans and the Mexicans and everybody else that has that freedom to come over here and play the game, because I know Cuba has a very strong baseball history. Rafael Palmeiro I would say keep supporting space flight, keep telling the public and the politicians why it's important to advance science and explore the galaxy. I encourage the Japanese to keep doing what they're doing. Leroy Chiao I'd forgotten I'd done the anime called Spirited Away, the English version of a Japanese film. David Ogden Stiers I'm for catching every Japanese in America, Alaska, and Hawai'i now and putting them in concentration camps. Francis Biddle I've been missing Japanese literature so much of late. Utada Hikaru If the current birth rate, which is the lowest in the major developed countries, continues, there will be no Japanese. Who will pay the enormous debt? Jim Rogers If these assets were set up as a revolving fund with which Japan could import raw materials for its industries, Japanese exports could again enter the channels of world trade-and Japanese workers would have employment and something to eat. James Forrestal If we don't do it, somebody else will. The Chinese, the Europeans and the Japanese all have the goal of going to the moon. Certainly we don't want to wake up and see that they have a base there before we do. Bart Gordon If you examine this, I think that you will find that it's the mechanics of Japanese architecture that have been thought of as the direct influence upon our architecture. Minoru Yamasaki In basic training we had been told to watch out for Japanese spies. Jack Adams In Japan, I was immensely impressed by the politeness, industrious nature and conscientiousness of the Japanese people. Paul Getty In Japanese art, space assumed a dominant role and its position was strengthened by Zen concepts. Stephen Gardiner In Japanese houses the interior melts into the gardens of the outside world. Stephen Gardiner In the Second World War, they're talking about the Japanese traitors and putting them into concentration camps. But companies like DuPont had factories in Germany turning out stuff for the German Army. Rob Walton In this context, the current recovery in the Japanese economy is taking place in tandem with the growing interdependence with the rest of the world, particularly with the other East Asian economies.
