Murrow The young man knows the rules, but the old man knows the exceptions. Oliver Wendell Holmes There are many exceptions, but New York is a great place to start a career. Stephen Collins There are no exceptions to the rule that everybody likes to be an exception to the rule. Charles Osgood There are so many exceptions to free speech: child pornography, cross burning, libel, fighting words. Cliff Stearns There are those whose sole claim to profundity is the discovery of exceptions to the rules. Paul Eldridge There seems to be one quality of mind which seems to be of special and extreme advantage in leading him to make discoveries. It was the power of never letting exceptions go unnoticed. Francis Darwin There were exceptions, a couple of families that just plain didn't want to even think about it, although forty years had passed but mostly the people were very interested in talking about it. Walter Lord Thousands of years and many civilizations have defined a marriage as the union between one man and one woman. With few exceptions, those civilizations that did not follow that perished. Randy Neugebauer To not be modest about it, you'll find that with only a couple of exceptions, most of the musicians that I've worked with have done their best work by far with me. David Bowie Total falsehoods can be easily exposed for what they are by citing exceptions to their claims. Hence, they are less likely to be accepted as the total truth. Samuel P. Huntington Treat everyone with respect and kindness. Period. No exceptions. Kiana Tom With a very few exceptions, every word in the French vocabulary comes straight from the Latin. Lytton Strachey With but few exceptions, it is always the underdog who wins through sheer willpower. Johnny Weissmuller You have always had individual directors who begin in the advertising or commercial world, but they are probably exceptions rather than the traditional pattern. Ann Macbeth |
