Actually, there was another band where we were three girls, around '84 when I met John Zorn, called Sunset Chorus. It was just bass and drums and guitar- we didn't make any records but we played a lot of different clubs in New York.

Ikue Mori And I can do the rock clubs if I have to. Luther Allison And I used to go the punk clubs such as a gay club in Poland Street that everyone would go to because it was the only place you could go to looking like that without getting beaten senseless. Gary Numan As much as we love playing the small clubs, we'd really like to get ourselves in front of a larger audience. I'm not talking about arenas or anything, but nice theaters and larger clubs. Chris Frantz Bobby Troup and I have been working together for about a year in clubs. We work in the same club. Julie London But between sets I'd sneak over to the black places to hear blues musicians. It got to the point where I was making my living at white clubs and having my fun at the other places. Stevie Ray Vaughan Clubs are so lame. Nobody even dances at these clubs. They stand around and get drunk and they schmooze. There is no enjoyment factor. Shia LaBeouf Disco B still rolls with me now. He's still doing his thing. He does clubs in different places. He was very instrumental in helping me perfect my craft. Grandmaster Flash Folk music was out there. Clubs were springing up and they were hot with the college kids. Dick Smothers Give me golf clubs, fresh air and a beautiful partner, and you can keep the clubs and the fresh air. Jack Benny Golf has become so manicured, so perfect. The greens, the fairways. I don't like golf carts. I like walking. Some clubs won't let you in unless you have a caddy and a cart. Robert Redford I consider myself gay because at the end of the night, that's who I want to cuddle with. But when I go out, I go to straight clubs. Jai Rodriguez I don't go to clubs and stuff like that, so I don't have to put up with it in there. And normally, because obviously I could hurt somebody, and if I look at it that way, I have to back off. Bubba Smith I don't remember what was going through my mind, but what was going through my body was fear and terror. I had been on the road with Johnny and working gigs and playing a lot of the organ clubs. John Abercrombie I enjoy playing clubs. I still enjoy the closeness of the nightclub venue. However, after a certain period of time and after playing around some of the clubs in New YorkI felt that jazz should be presented in a more prestigious atmosphere. Sonny Rollins I felt I had to share Idaho with my friend from New York because he'd shared New York with me, so I was going to share the beauty of nature with a man who went to museums and clubs late at night. But there was nothing to do where I lived at night. Mariel Hemingway I go in and sing the song and arrange it and mix it and that's it. It's no different than playing in clubs. Neil Young I go to clubs and if I notice the DJs are playing the records faster, then I'll push the beats a little on the next record I make. A lot of people don't know how to watch out for things like that. Jermaine Dupri I go to screenings, then plays, then after-parties, then clubs. Michael Musto I grew up in a place where everybody was a storyteller, but nobody wrote. It was that kind of Celtic, storytelling tradition: everybody would have a story at the pub or at parties, even at the clubs and raves. Irvine Welsh |
