I can't understand people calling themselves religious and being hateful. If a preacher is preaching hate, to fear God that's not religion, that's not helping humanity, that's organizing an army to defeat somebody.

Mojo Nixon I certainly saw science as a kind of calling, and one with as much legitimacy as a religious calling. Joshua Lederberg I could announce one morning that the world was going to blow up in three hours and people would be calling in about my hair! Katie Couric I define genuine full employment as a situation where there are at least as many job openings as there are persons seeking employment, probably calling for a rate of unemployment, as currently measured, of between 1 and 2 percent. William Vickrey I describe my works as books, but my publishers in Spain, in the United States, and elsewhere insist on calling them novels. Guillermo Cabrera Infante I don't believe in email. I'm an old-fashioned girl. I prefer calling and hanging up. Sarah Jessica Parker I don't know what my calling is, but I want to be here for a bigger reason. I strive to be like the greatest people who have ever lived. Will Smith I felt like calling attention to AIDS. I had the AIDS ribbon colored into my hair during the playoffs in '95. Dennis Rodman I had a calling to become what I became - I was created to do this. La Monte Young I had started calling her Lucy shortly after we met; I didn't like the name Lucille. That's how our television show was called I Love Lucy, not Lucille. Desi Arnaz I have assiduously avoided calling my books novels. Guillermo Cabrera Infante I have written things that Republicans and Democrats and all kinds of figures have either hated or felt very uncomfortable about. Because in doing these long projects and books, you get close to the bone. And they're not calling me up and asking me for dinner. Bob Woodward I keep on calling them records because they will always be records to me. Neil Schon I look at my first appointment book from 1965 and I get dizzy. I was constantly in a phone booth calling photographers. Lauren Hutton I said to myself, where are we living? In the United States of America where you're innocent until proven guilty, or Nazi Germany with the Gestapo calling? Tommy Bond I see Christ as the incarnation of the piper who is calling us. He dances that shape and pattern which is at the heart of our reality. Sydney Carter I see no reason for calling my work poetry except that there is no other category in which to put it. Marianne Moore I should have forfeited my own self-respect, and perhaps the good opinion of my countrymen, if I had failed to resent such an injury by calling the offender in question to a personal account. Preston Brooks I think when I'm in love, I really am very good with calling, little faxes, and visiting and I really put a lot of effort into it. I'm really not the one that's not available because of work and I'm very sad when I actually leave. Franka Potente I use a professional researcher in New York who does all the legwork, all that stuff which would take me days and weeks of calling, waiting for people to call back. Ken Follett |
